Andrea Pacioni was born in Rome in 8th of March 1970.
He studies in Rome where he gets his Photography Diploma at the "Roberto Rosselini" School for Cinematografy and Television.
His artistic trail begins when he meets Arthur Patten in 1992.
Arturo was portrait photographer of great sensibility, technical ability and inspiration for
innovation as well as a true friend for Pacioni, until the day he died. From that moment Pacioni feels the need of deepen his artistic research. The necessity for capturing his images carries him in a long period of experiments in the dark room. He start to dedicating himself exclusively to this research, which gives to him the opportunity to trial several materials: glass, lead, slate and steel. He discovers new possibilities and new ways of interpreting the photograpy, the proper tool for impressing and modelling the material, which becomes a relevant part of the artistic process, giving back to the image its own original purity and relevance.
For two years long he totally interrupts his professional activity dedicating exclusively to this research that will carry him to realizes "Leaden Visions", six b/w images handmade printed on lead sheets, that will be exposed in Rome, London and Paris.
In 2006 he realizes "the Body of Christ", where the crucifixion has been represented by a black man image handmade printed on black slate.
Also in this case the entire procedure has made manually in darkroom.
This work has been exposed in May 2006 inside the basilic of S. Maria in Montesanto (Church of the Artists) in Rome.
In november of 2006 the S. Cecilia gallery of Rome exposes "Souls".
"Souls" is a work realized inside of the institute Boys Town.
The Boys Town is a College for young orphans situated in the periphery south of Rome.
Who has had the fortune or the misfortune to grow up in that place keep on feeling the trace of that passage.
A piece of the own soul will always remain between those four walls.
The "Souls" are very light sails of photographic emulsion without support, hung to a fine steel thread inside of boxes of iron and glass.
Currently Andrea Pacioni continues his research and experiments for a new project.
In the same time the passion for portraits and jazz music grows up.
In year 2000 he realized the images of the cd "the Sweet Life" by Tommaso/Rava Quartet for the CAM-JAZZ. With this record label he also realized: "Roberto Gatto plays Rugantino" by Roberto Gatto, (with Enrico Rava, Enrico Pieranunzi, Luca Bulgarelli, Rosario Giuliani, Gianluca Petrella, Gabriele Mirabassi, Claudio Corvini, Stefano Mastrangelo, Massimo Pirone, Peppe Servillo and the Orchestra Roma Sinfonietta), "Second Act" by Giovanni Tommaso Quintet and "play Morricone" by Enrico Pieranunzi, Marc Johnson, Joey Baron.
In 2004 Andrea Pacioni meets Stefano Mastruzzi, director of the Saint Louis College of Music of Rome.
He begins a long time collaboration whit him realizing various plans: the cover cd image of "The Duke's Choice" by Marco Siniscalco, Dario Lapenna, Michel Audisso and the cd "The Fifth Season" by Roberto Giglio.
In the 2005 the publication "Real Book Italian Jazz" edited by Stefano Mastruzzi and Adriano Mazzoletti published by Carish, includes not only the cover but also lot of jazz musicians portraits taken by Pacioni in these years.
In the 2007 the publication "Jazz Moment" edited by Stefano Mastruzzi.
"Jazz Moment" is also an exhibition of italian and international jazz musicians portraits in honor of the thirty years anniversary of the Saint Louis College of Music foundation.
From 2004 He is honorary associate of "UIL-National Union Writers and Artists".
Andrea Pacioni lives and works in Rome.
